WHO IS İLKER CANIKLIGİL?
İlker Canikligil was born in Istanbul in 1972. His family is originally from Samsun. After graduating from Saint-Joseph French High School in 1991, he entered the Department of Cinema and Television at Marmara University in 1992. While continuing his university education, he shot three short films: On Duty in 1992, Ağaç in 1994 and I Want to Fly in 1995. After completing his university education, he started working in the advertising industry. In 1999, he started teaching at the Cinema and Television Department of Istanbul Bilgi University. In 2005, he translated editor Walter Murch’s book The Blink of An Eye into Turkish. He resigned from the academy in 2006. In the same year, he directed the pilot episode of the TV series Ecinniler and received the Best Editing award at the 13th Golden Boll Film Festival with the movie Gen, which he edited. In 2007, he published a book called Cinema with Digital Video. He has worked as an advertising director in various agencies since 2006. Between 2010 and 2014, he taught cinematography at Bahçeşehir University Photography and Video Department. In 2014, he started giving directing lessons at Istanbul Film Academy. In 2019, he left Istanbul Film Academy and started producing content on his YouTube channel FluTV.
