The accident occurred at around 10.50 yesterday at Kavaklı Cemetery in Andırın’s Darıovası District. The truck with plate number 27 AKZ 728, driven by Cengiz Aksu, went out of control and crashed into 3 vehicles.
The truck, dragging the vehicles in front of it, then plowed into the crowd preparing to perform the funeral prayer of Davut Avan, who died of a heart attack. In the accident; Mustafa Güzeloğlu (65), Osman Önsel (49), Halil Önsel (70), Mehmet Peksoy (72), Tahir Temiz (73) and Erdoğan Güzeloğlu (37) lost their lives and 24 people were injured. The driver, Cengiz Aksu, who survived the accident uninjured, was taken into custody. 17 of the injured, who were treated in hospitals, were discharged.
HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE COURTHOUSE WITH AN ARMORED VEHICLE
Truck driver Cengiz Aksu was sent to the courthouse in the morning after his procedures at Andırın District Gendarmerie Command. Aksu was brought to the courthouse, where the police and gendarmerie took extensive security measures, with the gendarmerie’s armored vehicle.
THEY WERE BURIED IN THE CEMETERY WHERE THEY DIED
Those who lost their lives in the accident were handed over to their relatives after the autopsy. The bodies of Osman Önsel, Halil Önsel, Tahir Temiz and Erdoğan Güzeloğlu were brought to Kavaklı Cemetery, where the accident took place yesterday.
The families of the deceased, Kahramanmaraş Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Hayrettin Güngör, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Gökhan İnan and many citizens attended the ceremony held here. After the funeral prayers were performed, Osman Önsel, Halil Önsel, Tahir Temiz and Erdoğan Güzeloğlu were buried in tears. Mustafa Güzeloğlu and Mehmet Peksoy were buried yesterday.
