“Our Hope is Serbia” Serbians, who showed great interest in the rally, came to Belgrade by bus from all over the country and supported Vucic in front of the Serbian Parliament despite the heavy rain.
Addressing the crowd at the rally, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the only aim of the politicians, who exploited the tragedy with armed attacks, was to overthrow him and the Serbian government.
Stating that he will continue to fight for every second that peace will continue in the country, the Serbian leader stated that they will not ignore the attacks on Kosovo Serbs and announced that he will hold a National Security Council meeting after the rally due to the tension in the north of Kosovo.
VUCIC WILL DRAW FROM PARTY LEADERSHIP
Saying that he served his country and people selflessly and led the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) for 11 years, Vucic announced that he will be leaving the party leadership from tomorrow.
Vucic said that although he will oust the party leadership, he will remain a member of the SNS, and that he will probably not be able to address a crowd of this size in his lifetime. “Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. I will continue to fight for Serbia, I will establish a non-partisan people’s movement to fight for Serbia during the 2.3-year difficult period that will affect the fate of the country.
“WE WILL NOT WAIT VUCIC”
Speaking at the rally, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacicsaying that the recent mass attacks have been used for political purposes, said that they will not allow the opposition to seize power with street demonstrations and that they will not give up on President Vucic.
Milorad Dodik, the leader of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also addressed the crowd at the rally. Stating that they want Serbia to be stable and strong and that they support Vucic for this, Dodik chanted “We will not give up on Vucic, long live Serbia, long live Republika Srpska, long live Russia”.
SUPPORT FROM HUNGARY
Supporting the rally, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto also spoke in Serbian and HungaryHe said that they owe Vucic to be two sister countries.
Szijjarto pointed out that Serbia and Hungary have gone through similar tests and both countries are under pressure from the international community. “We are attacked because we are successful. But we will continue to build a strong Serbia and a strong Hungary. Continue to help and support your President,” he said.
