National athletes took to the podium at the 11th International September 9 Izmir Half Marathon

Kenyan athlete in the men’s race at the 11th International September 9 Izmir Half Marathon, organized by the Metropolitan Municipality in honor of the 101st anniversary of Izmir’s liberation from enemy occupation. Frankline Keitanyin women Ivyne Jeruto Lagat won.

According to the statement made by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, more than 2 thousand amateur and professional athletes from various age groups participated in the marathon run on the Cumhuriyet Square-İnciraltı-Cumhuriyet Square route.

NATIONAL ATHLETES ON THE Podium

Kenyan Frankline Keitany won the gold medal in the men’s general classification. Kenyan Meshack Kimutai Kibil came second, Ramazan Baştuğ and came third.

In the women’s category, Kenyan Ivyne Jeruto Lagat won the race, Bahar Atalay second, Dilan Atak finished in third place.

The people of Izmir supported the athletes participating in the marathon by applauding along the race route. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay also ran in the race.

Awards were given to the athletes who ranked in the general classification and age groups, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, Turkish Athletics Federation President Fatih Çintimar, Izmir Youth and Sports Provincial Director Murat Eskici, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay, Izmir Youth and Sports Services Department Head Hakan. Orhunbilge was given by Ersan Odaman, President of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club.
