‘Musilage-2 Operation’ launched in 20 provinces against organized crime groups

The fight against organized crime continues under the coordination of the Department of Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) of the General Directorate of Security (EGM).

In this context, action was taken under the coordination of the KOM Department, in line with the instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, against the mafia-type organized crime groups that try to show themselves superior to the state powers by using the methods of pressure, coercion, threat and violence on the people living on the coastline and negatively affect the tourism of the country, and the criminal groups that supply these organizations with weapons.

12 CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS DETECTED

Establishing an organization with the aim of committing crimes in 20 provinces including Adana, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, İzmir, Muğla, Mersin, Bursa, Çanakkale, Samsun, Hatay, İstanbul, Ordu, Tekirdağ, Giresun, Kastamonu, Bartın, Düzce, Rize and Zonguldak, Within the scope of the activities of the organization, 12 organized crime organizations were identified that committed the crimes of looting, usury, threats, intentional killing.

233 SUSPECT WANTED

In addition, 27 criminal groups that committed the crime of violating the Law No. 6136 by supplying these organizations with weapons and posing a threat to public security and peace were identified.

Thereupon, the “Musilaj-2 Operation” was held simultaneously this morning to apprehend 233 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
