Merve Dincel won the gold medal at the World Taekwondo Championships

According to the statement of the Turkish Taekwondo Federation, on the third day of the championship in the capital Baku, women’s 49 kilos Merve Dincel, men’s 80 kilos Hüseyin Kartal and 87 kilos Enbiya Taha Biçer went on the tatami.

Merve Dinçel defeated Elizaveta Ryadninskaya, who competed individually in the second round, and Dunya Ali Abutaleb of Saudi Arabia in the third round and advanced to the quarter-finals.

Defeating Kazakh Botakoz Kapanova in the quarter-finals, Spanish Adriana Cerezo Iglesias in the semi-finals, Merve matched with the last Olympic champion, Thai Panipak Wongpattanakit, in the final. Eliminating her opponent, Merve won the gold medal.

On the other hand, Hüseyin Kartal won the men’s 80 kg category, and Enbiya Taha Biçer 87 kg was defeated in the third round and was eliminated.
