Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) shared the National Education Statistics for 2022.
Accordingly, while the rate of associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctorate graduates aged 25 and over in the total population aged 25 and over was 9.8 percent in 2008, this rate became 23.9 percent in 2022. While the rate of those who graduated from primary school and higher education levels in the mentioned age group was 81.1 percent in 2008, this rate was 92.5 percent in 2022.
AVERAGE DURATION OF TRAINING WAS 9.2 IN 2022
While the average education period of the population aged 25 and over was 7.3 years in 2011, it increased by 26 percent to 9.2 years in 2022. The average education period for 2022 was 8.5 years for women and 10.0 years for men.
While the “gender ratio”, which expresses the ratio of the average education period of women to the average education period of men, was 0.78 in 2011, this ratio increased every year and became 0.84 in 2022.
ANKARA WAS THE HIGHEST AVERAGE STUDY TIME
While Ankara was the province with the highest average education period of the population aged 25 and over in 2022 with 10.6 years, this province was followed by İstanbul, Eskişehir, Kocaeli and İzmir, respectively. The province with the lowest average education period was Ağrı with 7.2 years, followed by Şanlıurfa, Van, Muş and Kastamonu, respectively.
SIRNAK, WITH 65.1 PERCENT, WAS THE MOST INCREASE IN THE AVERAGE STUDY TIME
The first five provinces where the average education period of the population aged 25 and over showed the highest increase between the years 2011-2022 was Şırnak with 65.1%, Hakkari with 53.9 percent, Bingöl with 51.9 percent, Muş with 48.1 percent and Van became Van with 46.5. The first five provinces with the lowest increase were Ankara with 18.2 percent, Tekirdağ with 20.5 percent, Eskişehir with 20.8 percent, Istanbul with 21.5 percent and Yalova with 21.6 percent.
THE RATE OF LITERATURE WAS 97.6 PERCENT
While the rate of literacy among the population aged 6 and above was 91.8 percent in 2008, this rate was calculated as 97.6 percent in 2022. Between 2008 and 2022, the literacy rate for women rose from 86.9 percent to 95.9 percent, and for men, this rate rose from 96.7 percent to 99.3 percent.
ANTALYA WITH THE HIGHEST LITERATURE RATIO
The province with the highest literacy rate in 2022 was Antalya with 99.0 percent, followed by Çanakkale, İzmir, Muğla and Denizli, respectively. The province with the lowest rate was Mardin with 93.6 percent, followed by Şanlıurfa, Siirt, Ağrı and Iğdır, respectively.
SIRNAK WITH THE HIGHEST LITERATURE RATIO
Şırnak, Hakkari, Van, Siirt and Muş were the top five provinces where the literacy rate showed the highest point increase between 2008 and 2022. The first five provinces with the lowest increase were Eskişehir, Ankara, Yalova, Istanbul and Bilecik, respectively.
THE PROVINCES WITH THE HIGHEST WOMEN’S literate literacy rate: ÇANAKKALE AND ANTALYA
The provinces with the highest female literacy rate were Antalya and Çanakkale with 98.4 percent, followed by İzmir, Denizli and Muğla, respectively. The province with the lowest rate was Mardin with 89.0 percent, followed by Şanlıurfa, Ağrı, Siirt and Iğdır, respectively. In males, the literacy rate did not show a significant difference between provinces in Turkey.
