The Turkish economy recorded strong growth in the second quarter of 2022 with a rate of 7.6 percent. TurkStat announced that the growth data for the first quarter was revised from 7.3 percent to 7.5 percent.

Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati made the following statements regarding the growth data on his official Twitter account:

“Our economy grew by 7.6 percent in real terms in the second quarter of the year, above our strong growth performance in the first quarter. Thus, Turkey became the second country with the highest growth in the second quarter of the year among OECD and G20 countries, whose data were announced.”

“We not only showed strong growth performance in the second quarter, but also maintained the balanced growth that has continued for 5 quarters in this period.”

Last minute… ‘growth’ statement from Minister Muş

“The strong annual increase in machinery and equipment investments for the last two and a half years has continued with 17.8 percent in this period as well. We evaluate this development positively in terms of increasing our production capacity.”

“The reflections of the strong growth in the labor market were seen in the first half of the year. In this period, an additional 900 thousand people were employed compared to the end of last year, and the unemployment rate fell to 10.3 percent.”

“These gains we have achieved with the Turkish Economy Model, which prioritizes growth and employment and supports production and exports, will continue in the rest of the year. Now, the hallmark of our economy is balanced, sustainable and employment-oriented growth.”
