The National Day of the Republic of Korea was celebrated with the Hanbok Fashion Show, which was the center of attention of the world, held in a hotel in Ankara. Korean Ambassador Won Ik Lee and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the event as the honored guest of the event. Korean Ambassador Won Ik Lee, who made the opening speech of the event, said, “Korea and Turkey, which were once neighbors, have thousands of years of historical ties, common lands, linguistic roots and even family histories.”
‘OUR TRADE VOLUME WITH KOREA EXCEEDED 8 BILLION DOLLARS LAST YEAR’
Referring to the cooperation between the two countries at the event, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “The year 2022 has a special importance as it is the 10th anniversary of the establishment of our close relations, which we have built on this strong foundation, and the establishment of our 65th strategic partnership. With Korea, our second largest partner in Asia Pacific. Our trade volume exceeded 8 billion dollars last year. There is a common will to advance the interests of our people. The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which we held the opening ceremony with the presence of our President and the then Korean Prime Minister Kim, last March, is a sign of Korea-Turkey cooperation as the longest suspension bridge in the world. .
We wish to continue our cooperation in giant infrastructure projects and to evaluate our potential in this field by signing joint projects in third countries. We hope that the high-level and technical visits and the contacts between our business circles will continue to increase as the pandemic conditions ease. We think that it will be beneficial for both countries for Korean companies to increase their investments in our country by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by Turkey, which has a young and dynamic population, which is a trade and transportation center due to its geographical location. The Republic of Korea is one of our important partners in the Asia-Pacific Region, as part of our ‘Asia Again’ initiative, which we launched within the framework of our multidimensional foreign policy. We have full confidence that the cooperation between the two countries will become stronger in the coming period on the basis of our historical friendship ties.”
SHOWS WERE THE FOCUS OF ATTENTION
Traditional dance, music and dress shows of Korean culture gave the audience unforgettable moments. Hanbok, the national brand value of Korea, took the stage with the fusion designs of the famous Hanbok designer Lee Seo Youn, which combines the traditional and the modern. While the traditional music of Korea accompanied the fashion show, the audience once again commemorated the deep-rooted past of Korean culture as part of the National Day celebrations. As part of the Republic of Korea National Day events, the group AESIRA, which won the K-Pop World Festival, also took the stage.
