It was revealed that Defne State Hospital was opened before the end of its construction in Hatay, which was adversely affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in the past days. It was learned that the hospital, which was opened in a hurry, has not yet officially entered the hospital status and the health workers assigned to work in this institution do not have an official assignment letter. On the other hand, it was also stated that the doctors working in the institution were given an additional 6 hours of overtime.

Speaking to Cumhuriyet on the subject, Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Committee Member Onur Naci Karahancı stated that health workers who are officially assigned to other institutions are employed in the said hospital. Karahancı stated that the hospital was opened before it was completed in order to reach the elections.Authorities manage the process with political concerns. The hospital is not officially visible yet. A statement is made that ‘we have opened a hospital’, but this institution does not have the characteristics that a hospital should have. It only provides polyclinic service here. In addition, the construction of the hospital is still ongoing.” said.
THEY GIVE ORAL INSTRUCTIONS
A doctor assigned to the hospital in question, who did not want to be named, stated that his staff appeared in Hatay Training and Research Hospital, but was called to Defne State Hospital to work, and said:My assignment was made to Hatay Training and Research Hospital. But then I was called from Defne State Hospital. When I went to the hospital, I asked for my assignment paper, but they told me that there is no official assignment letter and I will work with a verbal instruction. I also stated that I could not work in the said institution without an official letter on the grounds that my responsibilities were officially in the other hospital. They threatened with a denial of duty. When they insisted that I would not work without my assignment letter, they said that it did not exist and I could go.”
