Critical visit closely monitored by Beijing: US President Biden is going to Vietnam!

The USA and Vietnam are two old enemy countries. In the Vietnam War, which started in 1955 and lasted 21 years, both sides suffered losses.

Now these two countries are opening the door to a new era. The latest indicator of this is US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam.

Speaking to Musab Eryiğit from TRT Haber, Istanbul Medeniyet University Dr. Faculty Member Kadir Temiz made the following evaluation about this visit:

“Today, the Biden government wants to take relations with Vietnam to the next level diplomatically and advance them to a strategic comprehensive partnership. In my opinion, the most important reason for this is the problems arising in the South China Sea.”

CHINA IS ALSO WATCHING THIS VISIT CLOSELY

The Beijing administration is carefully monitoring Biden’s Vietnam contacts.

The possibility of Vietnam-US relations turning into China’s containment is seen as a national security issue for Beijing.

China’s border neighbor Vietnam disputes Beijing’s claims to the Spratly and Paracel islands in the South China Sea.

“VIETNAM IS CONSIDERED AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHINA”

The Chinese Coast Guard blocks Vietnam’s oil and gas drilling and Vietnamese fishing vessels.

Istanbul Medeniyet University Dr. Lecturer Kadir Temiz said, “Of course, the competition is not only in the South China Sea. When you think about it within the framework of the ‘Vietnam development model’, Vietnam is slowly becoming an alternative route supply chain to China.” “Vietnam is considered an alternative to China when considering technology and especially energy routes,” he says.

Vietnam, on the other hand, is seeking support from the USA against China.

It is stated that the USA also wants to make Vietnam an alternative to China in the global supply chain.
